Yesterday my rheumatologist started me on hydroxychloroquine as well. Is anyone else on this combination and have you had any problems with it as I know hydroxychloroquine can cause eye sight problems.

Clinical practice guidelines recommend use of combination DMARDs such as hydroxychloroquine plus methotrexate for patients with a disease duration less than 6 months and moderate disease activity and poor prognostic features and is an option for high disease activity and poor prognostic features. Summary Drug interactions are reported among people who take Methotrexate and Plaquenil together. This study is created by eHealthMe based on reports of 23,242 people who take Methotrexate and Plaquenil from Food and Drug Administration FDA, and is updated regularly. Elevated levels of aminotransferases were more common in patients receiving methotrexate plus leflunomide, as were mild leucopenias and neutropenias. A 24-week open label extension converted those patients initially randomized to the methotrexate-placebo combination to methotrexate- leflunomide at 10-20 mg/day.

Recently my eyes have felt sore and, after posting a question on this site, I am seeing my GP on Monday. Thanks Hi Catjones I have been taking this combination, started on both of them in January this year.
